If your thinking of the Appalachian Trail coin that was at Simpson Creek, I know who has it. He's a new person to the game is learning how it's played. It's in safe hands and he knows if he can't move it along I'll help him out.

I drill a big hole in all of the coins I set free to travel.I have only had one coin stollen from a cache and it was one of the first ones that I released and it wasn't defaced in any way and now its gone.It was a don't get caught red handed coin (go figure) of all coins to steal one that says if this coin is not in a cache then it has been stollen. An other coin I released was an EU coin that I had defaced but then I asked a cacher in NY who picked up the coin to drill a hole into it for me after the red handed coin was taken and they did for me and the coin is still traveling. The only one to go missing out of 12 coins that I released so far was the one that was not defaced. So drill them holes as you will probaly never see the coin again once you release it.

I know Im late in responding, but have an idea. Its costly though and not practicle I guess, but here goes, Have a coin desinged with a tracking chip inside. Like I side an idea, and not practicle unless you got lots of money, but an idea still.
