I just received the email from Hog Wild that preorders are open for the WV Geocoin.

A special thanks to ScoutingWV and WVHunter for creating this beautiful coin and Steve at Hogwild for the minting.

Thanks guys, but it wasn't just the two of us.

There have been several people that have been willing to provide input on the design as it's evolved. many of the folks in this forum have seen sketches and early samples. Without that feedback we'd still be trying to figure this out. You wouldn't believe the difference between this coin and the original sketches!

There are also some folks in the geocoin community that I will call "displaced West Virginians" that helped out as well. These folks are not only avid coin collectors, they are natives of our state but now they happen to live elsewhere. Some of you may have met Prntr1 and Thorny at GW5 - they are just two of the folks that have offered feedback along the way.

We hope you enjoy the coins folks! Buy several so you can collect, trade and get some traveling!!

I just placed my order. I have been looking for this to happen. I owe a cacher in Idaho one. He had given me one of his personal coins a few months back. Now I can return the favor. He was in town and did my Simpson Creek Bridge, thats how I got to know him. Kinda, sorta long story as to how this came about. Don't you just love GEOcaching.

I can't wait to get my hands on the correctly lumpy coins. Sweet.

And it won't even involve pushing and shoving (unless by some bizarre coincidence a que forms at my mailbox the day the package arrives).

For you collectors, you may want to look at the thread in the GC forums. Some out-of-state folks prefer the antique silver and may want to make some trades.

This just popped up in my inbox concerning my pre-order. I can't wait!

This is just q quick status update on the West Virginia coins.

The coins are currently being manufactured. Right now the expected date for them to arrive to Hogwild Stuff in California is September 14. Once they arrive it will take me 1-3 days to have them packaged and in the mail to you.

I will send you another update when we get confirmation the coins have been shipped to us.
