Call for Cachers 8/23/14 - Ritchie Mines

Postby Spotty Spotty Pony Girl on Tue Aug 19, 2014 9:51 am

Alrighty folks. Call for Cachers - Saturday, August 23, 2014.

Hoping the weather cooperates as I'm organizing a cache outing to go after the 12 instep guy caches placed at Ritchie Mines.

For reference Ritchie Mines #7 GC558YG.

Meet up details to follow. I've still got a few things to hash out!

Okey dokey.

Preliminary details are:

That we'll leave Morgantown around 9:30 - that's later than I'd like but we have to pick up the veggies that morning and they usually come around that time. If I can find someone to fetch them for us, we'll shove off earlier. But I'll clarify that tomorrow (friday).

We'll have to stop in Clarksburg at a place to be determined to pick up Exploring Deaconess (Arissa) and then head to Ritchie Mines. It should take about 2 hours to get from Morgantown to Ritchie Mines.

I'm guessing, pbump, that we'll just meet you at the currently disabled cache on the Northern most side. As usual, I'll just text you when we are actually underway.

Some of the road is Jeep / 4x4 - able which would eliminate walking the entire way. I believe it is about 3 miles on the road from one end to the other.

Also a plausible scenario is to put at least one vehicle at the southern terminus so we don't have to do a round trip hike, transporting the drivers back to fetch any vehicles left.

Well, that about taxed all the brain power I have. Finalized (hahahaha) details will be posted on Friday.

and keep your fingers crossed the rain stays away!

Oh, an important thing, plan on bringing snacks/lunch since we're getting a late start. We'll find an appropriate place for dinner after caching. But who knows when that might be.

I can meet you in Clarksburg if that's easier than another stop.

That works. We are picking Arissa up at the Huntington Banks in downtown Clarksburg - off 2nd street exit.

Butterhopper & Cache Weasel may be coming too.

so we'll have to figure out the vehicle situation as we go.

I'll post a more firm time this evening. Waiting to hear from Chad about another beer barrel.
