I DID IT! Well, almost 'did it'. I swept up pages 39, 40, 28, 29, 30, 31A and 31B (in the dark) today! I also finished finding a cache in all 55 counties! I stuck my neck out on here and boasted that I would pull off the DeLorme Challenge in only 2 months after finding out it was a real cache and I just might do it. All I'm waiting on is Team Battlecache's email so I can send the .gpx file and get the final coordinates. I'm in a hotel in Martinsburg until Thursday and if TeamBattlecache sends me the final coordinates by then I'm gonna attempt to log it on Thursday since I have my conceal and carry class all day on Friday and have to babysit on Saturday.

I'm so stoked! After flogging the roads of the state HARD for two months I feel like I can relax just a little bit and go after some real caches for once and let the LPC's and EGG's sit and rot a while. I did make an effort to find multiple caches on each page and also log some harder ones, but it is easy to give into the temptation to log park and grabs just to get the page off the list. I also must declare that I went ahead and logged a cache for every page including page 62. I would've felt a little like cheating to have skipped it knowing there is a cache on that page now.

I found 35 caches today and pretty sure that'll also qualify me to get the final coords for the WV 50 Star Challenge Cache. I'm zonked, but too much adrenalin to go to sleep just yet.

Now here is my dilemna. I am only 12 cache finds short of my #500th find. It would be really cool to make the DeLorme Challenge my 500th, but it will be ridiculously hard to sit around a hotel for 3 more evenings and limit myself to only finding 11 caches between now and Thursday. I am gonna try to only go after a few hard ones, multis, etc. On the flipside, I made a personal goal of going from 200 finds to 1000 finds in a year (by the end of 2009). I sure could take a chunk out of that goal if I didn't feel restricted, but I have gotten almost 300 in only about 3 months. What would you do?

Ha! The lure of the word "challenge". It cannot be ignored. On a similar note, now that I've officially logged a cache in all 55 counties I can feel at ease with the concept of planning a county challenge cache. :mwha:
