Tablet PC & Delorme 2009

Postby Spotty Spotty Pony Girl on Tue Jan 06, 2009 9:51 am

Several of you were curious why sidekick would stoop so low and get me a computer running Vista. So when he returned I asked him. Seems Vista is what is needed to run the tablet part of the tablet PC.

At any rate I ended up with DeLorme Street Atlas 2009 because Vista doesn't like 2007. That is now loaded on the machine. As is GSAK and iGuidance (thank you Aquacache for the software & CLCombat for license to nag). I now have no excuse for getting lost.

First test run of the tablet on a geo-run worked out well. in fact it worked much better with the Ram Mount than the laptop did. (thank you again CLCombat for loan of a working bluetooth GPSr)

We knew there had to be a reason for sLWB to buy Vista! Sounds awesome and I am very jealous. Can't wait to try it out!

internal bluetooth thingamabob installed. Words like a dream. For now at any rate.

still haven't gotten the UMPC (aka "Pitt Hospital" version) of DeLorme Street Atlas to agree to load / run / show up. Whatever.

No, he didn't. I am assuming hunter didn't want to die. :reddot:

He did show it to her.

and so last night loyal sidekick says to me, "so what all have you installed?" meaning aside from what I'd listed here.

well nothing because tech support has all the CDs and DVDs hidden in secret tech support filing system that is, from what I've been able to discern, scattered among the 4 floors of my house.

for caching it is ready to roll. it's the rest of the programs I may also use that aren't on there.

(FYI - sidekick has dibs on the forester next weekend. so I'll be left with the Ion)

And so since the topic is mentioned, this is what I'm caching stuff running now in a nice little list so you don't have to go back and look through the posts:

*DeLorme Street Atlas 2009
*DeLorme Topo 6
*GSAK (version 5,000,000 or whatever it's up to as of now)

*iGuidance (but that's more me not getting lost than caching)

anything else that you would consider critical (or fun) for caching?
