Call for cachers 11-12-11 Chimney Top Cache GCVTH7

Postby Jeff_toughsearch on Fri Nov 11, 2011 12:45 pm

I know this is short notice but I had to make sure all the stars alined for this to work. At the moments there is just myself and H_B_Happy going but any others are welcomed. I have been wanting to do this one along time, needing it for the D/T and for some other challenges. I am planning on leaving the parking area around 9 am, the cache page says allow 4 hours for the hike and photo taking, it is 3 miles uphill with about 2000' of elevation change. Anyone interested let me know and don't worry I am not planning on running up this hill or she will kill me. You can email at mailto:jeff_tki@yahoo.com for more info or to let me know you would like to tag along.

I am so disappointed I'm out of town. Enjoy.

That's a great one!

Did you look at the pictures taken by the last people to find it? -->click here<-- Knowing the slope of where the container is hidden -- and what lies (or doesn't lie, in this case) at the bottom of the slope -- I can say that there would be little chance I would go down in there without a rope. One slip on the snow and you'll have a long time to think about what it's going to feel like when you finally make it back to solid ground.

And you all think I'm crazy. I'd never try that one in the snow.

Yeah, that was one of my first thoughts when I saw those pictures ... "Even 89SC wouldn't go up there in those conditions!"

Well there was no snow on top Saturday so the forecast of doom thank goodness did not come into play! The view from up on top is amazing and I am so glad I did this cache even though yesterday morning I had some muscles aching I didn't know could hurt. We did run into 3 sets of hikers but no other cachers, I recommend this cache as a must do to anyone out there thinking about it! Just be sure to take lots of water and leave plenty of time as we started up the trail at noon and just got out at 5pm as it was getting dark.

I drove by last month and the parking area was full. There was even a bus. I didn't see anyone the 2 times I went up.
